On the way to the Hospital.......

This is my hospital area. Its about 2 km up hill from the market area . Also one can walk up the hill......the third picture shows the path we take when we want to walk down......And the first is a part of the building of the primary health centre. About 19 villages fall under our jurisdiction......apart from the different health programmes that we have for these villages , we also try to cater to their different health problems.....what ever is possible at this level. Facalities are scare but we try to do our best with the least. It functions 24 hrs.

( In the days to follow i would try to put up what we rural doctors face when we come to the far flung places to work. An experience to be shared. )
The river that can be seen here is the same river that would eventually flow down to Bangladesh. The view from this part is breath taking.....

DAWKI.......

This is the business hub of Dawki...... where the people from different villages meet and connect with each other both for business and social interaction . But here the market looks deserted as i had come too late...all the different vehicles have left...people were just winding up .......it was the end of another day.

Across the Border......Bangladesh!!!

As you near the village of Dawki we get to see our neighbouring country .....Bangladesh. A little ahead of this view point we get to cross a bridge which connects the East Khasi Hills and the Jaintia Hills. Dawki falls in the Jaintia Hills. But i could not take the picture of the bridge as photography is strictly prohibited . Its a suspension bridge built in the year 1931 ( if i am not wrong) where the cables are pulled through opposite hillocks. Amazing engineering work. If you travel from East khasi Hills ,crossing of the bridge is the only way you enter the village......
