The Eucalyptus Tree..........

Before you enter our colony the Eucalyptus tree stands majestically at the four crossings of the road.......This is the symbol of my childhood....in fact not only mine , all the little children of my age group in the colony.......i remember it was or rather still is one of the most beautiful tree i have ever seen.......when i was younger i recall looking up , towards the tree imagining all the fairries and elfs and goblins......living there ( courtesy Enid Blyton ) and was always in awe of the colour of its trunk and branches......it was the colour of baby pink......can very well be compared to the human complexion but a complexion so flawless ......left one absolutely amazed.I often use to stand.....( I still do ) under the tree and as its branches and leaves swayed to the morning breeze the whiff of eucalyptus would gently brush your nasals. The tree has seen many of us growing up , moving out ,some never to come back ....some who have...... Today, it still stands strong inspite of so many years gone by but the other morning as i stood under it .....i suddenly noticed something which reminded me of wrinkles as seen in humans. Well , time did have its toll as i can see........the tree is aging slowly. After all these years , it suddenly looked old and weary. But i hope it still sees many more generations in the years to come.
