We used to called these birds good luck birds when we were small .....( am sorry ! actually don't know what they are called....they look as if they belong to the same family as Mynna.....) well not really good luck because it would depend on how many you see together....for example one stood for sorrow.....two for joy ...three for letter.....four for boys (for the girls) and girls( for the boys)....five for silver ...six for gold .......seven for secrets never to be told......and eight onwards would be all good luck.....so any one seeing one bird would keep hunting for another one till she sees a pair or else the day was doomed.....and if she happens to be in a school like ours where we had something like bad marks and good marks in our respective houses...well you have had it . One bird would surely mean one bad mark for what ever reason.....lol !!!! two was for joy meaning the day was good .....three for letters ( may be now it would be emails ....including a lot of junk emails ...lol !!!.) and the best one was number four.....lol....which means boys/girls what ever...so who ever has a crush on any one would look forward to seeing him/her....and it would end there. It would be like going Ga ga over someone and then the euphoria dies down till another moment. All this sounds silly now and we have a good laugh about it when ever we remember them but when we were in school it was taken very seriously.....no one could change our thoughts.Kids that we were!!!!! lol.
