Sending greetings and good wishes is no longer restricted only to birthdays and anniversaries. Now we have a day dedicated to every occasion, to every relation and to every profession. And with the coming in of Archie's and Hallmarks or for that matter e-cards, wishing a loved one has become more elaborate and fascinating. Well , who ever started this trend of dedicating days, must have also loved dentists, because we have a day in our honour too. So, 6th of march is suppose to be a "Dentist's Day".
Looking back, I have no regrets, in becoming one in spite of the back -breaking job we have to do ( one of our health hazards) They say dentistry is only for the upper class. True to some extend may be because some of the treatments are really a pinch in the pocket. But I always tell my patients, a toothbrush and toothpaste is all that is needed to take care of your teeth , thus making it one of the cheapest maintenance programme we can have. You only need to devote 5mins/day....2 1/2min in the morning and 2 1/2 mins before going to bed.And of course following those five golden rules would go a long way.
Today nothing gives me more satisfaction than to see a crying patient walking out of the hospital smiling. I always say am a poor man's dentist because my way of spreading awareness to the people is with a tooth brush. Its no use talking cosmetic dentistry to a man, when he is yet to be introduced to a tooth brush and beleive me a lot many people still don't own a tooth brush.
So , as i am proud to be an Indian, I am proud to be a dentist. So friends and foes, the drill, the shrill, might sound scarry, but we honestly have no intentions to hurt you but to see you smile because...........
Smile is a language of love......Smile is a way to get success....Smile is to win hearts.......Smile improves your personality. So brush regularly and yes adopt a dentist for a friendly twice a year check up. It is always better to feel at home with your doctor. Lol!!!
KEEP SMILING!!!! HAPPY DENTIST DAY!!!!!
