History books back in school told us about Nalanda.The architecture, the education system , the scholars it produced and much more. Naturally, I was always in awe of this ancient University.So this time , in my short trip I decided to visit the place that I had read so much about.
And when I did visit it , I was left with mixed feelings. I don't know much about ancient architecture but looking at the different monasteries which now lies in ruins , I formed some picture in my mind , how the structure would have looked back in those days. I must admit , for my little imaginary mind , it certainly didn't paint a very appealing picture. The walls were solid bricks, looks as if there were no windows and as I was taking a walk around almost felt claustrophobic , not to mention the heat. Hats off to our ancient scholars who studies here. I would have never got through my papers...lol!!!! but if I had to choose a room may be I would have taken this one where am sitting.....in this monastery.
