You do get to see a lot of interesting sights as you drive on. The road that can be seen goes back to the British times i was told ......and in some parts when the road was much narrower only one vehicle could pass through. There use to be a check gate where we had to wait for a pass when DOWN vehicles ..... means the vehicles going down towards dawki or the UP vehicles...... means the vehicles coming up to Shillong would go first. No two vehicles could pass at the same time in the NO PASSING ZONE.....going off the road meant a sharp drop down more than 400 ft. Now mountains are being cut down as in the picture above to widen the roads. So these days the check gate is no longer there but drivers have to be extra cautious.....Those white lines are actually the saving grace for us driving here. On foggy days those are the only guiding that your eyes can get to prevent one from going off road and beleive me it has happened more than once in front of my eyes when i saw some reckless drivers (specially after seeing a woman driving) trying to proof to be better drivers. The other picture is of a water fall which you get to see in plenty of numbers.......all round the monsoons.
My corner here will have all the stuffs which catches my eye and tickles my thoughts.........
