Well this is Civil Hospital, Shillong where i am presently posted.....caters to all types of patients except maternity cases.....( for this, woman goes to the maternity hospital , also a government undertaking) . The dental department sees all types of dental cases and the OPD hours is like no time to breath.....the patient numbers generally goes up to above 100....( ooppss!!!! so many people with dental problems.) No wonder by the end of the day we have a stiff neck and a straight back and so the orthopaedic department will always list a dental surgeon as one of its patient.....lol....permanantly. For me working in the urban hospital for the first time will be an experience......people are more educated and aware about their oral hygiene so its easier to talk dentistry to them ......and more over the hospital is accessible ...therefore following up a case is easier......suddenly life looks so much more simpler .....unlike the times i was in dawki, when i had to break my head of how should i make some medicines available to those people who comes from so far away and need to get some from the city. I wish something could be done.......but what?????
