Local Barbeque.........

This is a picture of a local fish being grilled over charcoal fire very slowly. Here no skewer is used. The rod that can be seen passing through the fish is a bamboo rod. The fish is said to be done when it is turned into an even lovely golden color. It can then be either stewed or cooked with spices or simply made into a dish locally called "Dohkha khleh" or "Fish Salad" may be you can call in english ( I suppose that is the nearest term that can be used ) where the fish is de-boned mashed and then mixed with chopped onions, ginger, green chillies and coriender leaves with a dash of lime and salt.A favoured dish for all health concious people since it does not contain even a drop of oil. Tastes real good....one of my favorite fish preparation.

A Local Dhaba.......

This is a typical scene of a local dhaba in the village where I am posted.......and before i go on today i should remember to tell all my friends here the name of the village that i am posted......DAWKI.....thats the name of this small border village . It is absolutely on the border of Bangladesh......(That reminds me may be in my next blogs i would introduce you to this small commercial village). Any way as of now i have these few pictures of the local dhaba.....very different from the dhabas i have gone to in other plain areas around India. To start with they are absolutely spick and span......here people are very particular about cleanliness......so you can enjoy your food closing your eyes....... the always piping hot and very tasty......you get some of the most mouth watering local cusines here. The Dhaba is usually a one room affair where you get to see the kitchen part and the serving and packing part.......some of the villagers come from far flung areas...they would pack food and take from here ......and do notice that the packing is done in special leaves......all enviormental concious people.....
