" Sparkling Teeth"........

I was out for shopping the other day when i suddenly hear a man shouting " Get your teeth cleaned for only 20 rupees.".......You guessed right! it immediately caught my attention and i went up to him .....curiosity galore......to find out what it really was . He was selling small bottles of pink solution, suppose to give you "sparkling teeth."......good for the gums......assuring you for the upteen time that its herbal and absolutely safe with no side effects. As he saw me more interested than the rest of the crowd, he took a little more time in explaining me the method of how to use it.....and also assured me that i would never need to visit the dentist again . Ugh!!!! I looked around to see if any body else heard that comment. Are we going to be out of job??? Lol !!!! . Well.....i bought a bottle from him , asked him if i could take a picture of his wonder medicine and thanked him for his advice.Oh ! Boy! Dentists are going to have stiff competition looks like. Ok jokes apart, here is a friendly doctorly advice( though i hate to be called a doc among my friends), please donot use such products how ever high their claims are......most of the time they are some form of acid which could harm your lovely pearls.Like all good things in life , there are no short cut when you care for your teeth. But following just five golden rules would go a long way though......

(1) Eating a balanced diet.

(2) Using a good quality tooth brush and tooth paste.

(3) Correct Brushing twice a day......morning and before bed at night

(4) Avoid snacking between meals.

(5) Visit your dentist at least twice a year , even if you have no tooth problems.

Thats all you need actually to have that million dollar smile.....!!!!

P.S. Thanks Avinash for giving me the award....thanks for finding my blog interesting and worthy enough for it.

Both Abe and I go for teeth cleaning at our dentist in April. I only have 8 of my own teeth left in my mouth. I have a full set of uppers, and a partial below. Never did get my so called wisdom teeth. X-rays showed I never had them to start with. Three of our daughters had to have theirs cut out. When the dentist I use to go to, he's dead now, was making my upper plate, he kept telling me what a small
mouth I have. I told him, according to Abe and all the talking I do he doesn't consider it small. LOL So when the dentist made my upper plate, I have 12 teeth on it. My partial has four plus my own eight, giving me a total of 24 teeth. By the way, I'm charged the same amount for cleaning the 8 teeth as a person that has 28 or 32. Doesn't really seem fair. Have a great rest of the week.

@Avinash
Nicotine stains are never a dentist's delight...heheh!!! And yes a bi annual visit is more than enough actually unless you have reasons to visit more often ( pun not intented !!!lol!) .Just follow the correct brushing technique and if you want a discount take the Rajdhani and come over . lol!

@Patty
Great to know that you and Abe take care of your oral health. Better late than never.3rd molars or the famous wisdom tooth are now considered rudimentary.....so most of thetime they are missing or needs to be taken out. research says with each generation, we may find the 3rd molar a thing of the past...This may be due to the food habits and changing life style of the humans.I don't have mine either and am thankful too because my jaws are small and it would have created problems.
And yes i know what you mean ...lol!!! I was once asked this same question by a very sweet old lady.....She had 4 standing teeth in her lower jaw.

Finally,the dentist makes an appearance. :D

nice tips... though to tell u the truth, dentists always scare me. The whole idea of sitting in that chair sends shivers down my spine.

However, some of the best people I know (u included) are dentists.

Very sound advice. Although you are a dentist, I don't see any prejudice in what you have written!

I used to hate dentists - and for good reason - had some bad childhood experiences - nowadays I am more pragmatic and have since found some who are sympathetic. You sound to be of the same ilk.
