Exercising my franchise......

Today was election day...and for the past couple of weeks people talked of nothing else but the possible candidates and parties. The younger generations had a different outlook......none were really enthusiastic about the idea of voting. Most said they might not even go and vote. I guessed the mood was picked up by the PR group , so promptly measures were taken to motivate the younger group and what could be the best platform but the media....radio, television, newspaper, the Internet and now even the cell phones( am tired of deleting the messages in my inbox) all with messages of how and why we should vote.???? I was in a deli ma too but i also could not sit back and say i would not vote. As OPD was closed today, i walked in leisurely to the polling booth , all the while praying that i make a wise choice about the candidate I would vote for and as i punched the voting machine i remembered a song from school time and only now i can see the beauty of those words.......its a long one but my favorite stanza goes something like this......" As we face the future bright, trustfully we pray for light, for our leaders that they may, Guide us wisely day by day......"
