By-Gone Shillong........!!!!!!
These are some very old photographs of Shillong that I have put up today.....and these are some of my prized possessions. Shillong was once the British capital of the undivided Assam since 1874. Even after Independence,Shillong continued to be the capital of the state of Assam till 1972 when Meghalaya was created and Shillong became the capital.
I wanted to share these pictures for all my friends, specially if you have been to Shillong in recent times......
The first picture is of the Shillong-Gauhati road.
The second picture is the All Saints Church, which was destroyed in the 1897 earth quake. Now a new church building stands here.
The third picture is the Old Catholic Cathedral
And the last one is the Police Bazaar, the main market area of the city.

Wow! the pictures are truly a prized possession. Thanks for sharing. I could never have guessed any of the places.
Which is the new Church? The one where we went?
PS: Love the new look of the blog :-)
lovely pics Nitu....No wonder I love this place so much...it was hard for me to believe that the last pic is Police bazaar!!! You would have preferred this National highway for travelling to Gauhati every week!!!
These are lovely pictures and have a peculiar British fragrance.
