A Local Goldsmith.........

This is a shop of a local goldsmith .The shop though looks very unimpressive, some of the most equisite designs are produced here and for information sake all gold work done is of 24 carat purity and manually made. The gold chains, the design on the pendant, the bracelets, earings ,
stone setting, the cuts, the shines ......you name it ...you have it ......all done by hand.The people in this area and for that matter in Meghalaya are found of only 24 carat gold. All gold is weighed in Tolas ( one tola= 16 annas of gold) and none would wear less than a tola. (The present gold rate here in the market is 16000/-). The one in the picture here is a necklace being made. I just arranged those gold beads to have an idea how it would look though lots of work is still left to be done. That is a ten tola gold work which i beleive is equal to one gold biscuit. OOOpppsss!!!!! woman! Take care or else next you would need to wear a neck collar instead of that necklace.....lol
