Street Singer.......

I saw this man sitting in this pavement of the area where i stay for many many months....and many afternoons ,when ever i happen to pass this pavement..... i would stand and listen to him play his instrument ......which i think is a Duitara....(correct me please if i am wrong.....am not too knowledgeable about musical instruments....)......I love to listen to the folk songs he sings...... its so lovely to hear his soulful voice in this busy street.....people would drop a few coins in his bowl while he would continue his singing...and i would sometimes stare at him to see if he was noticing how much coins he has collected...but the most surprising thing is i have never seen him open his eyes......so i wonder if he is actually blind .....i don't know really. Well as my ears enjoy the sound of his Duitara, i would get calls to get back to work......and very reluctantly i would have to move on....!!!

NITU.....a very touching post..do you remember one blind man who use to sing in front of MMC hospital right where our marketing-bus was parked? He too played this(ektara or dewtara ..whatever) instrument and had an amazing voice....beautiful old days.

lovely post. Even I love to listen to the street singers, but they are hard to find around Delhi roads these days.
