I was out for my walk in the morning and every time i cross the church area , i would notice this retention wall cracking up..... All along i thought may be the cement was falling apart, till this morning i stood here for a long time and noticed that the wall was actually cracking up because of the roots of the Eucalyptus trees . The wall was built around the trees and its roots were all entrapped under the cement wall. I found it quite cruel on our human part....trees are after all living things and have feelings too and they grow by the minute like us......I could imagine the roots under the wall trying to spread out its branches and not being able too.....i could almost feel the suffocation. Well humans , can we be a little more compassionate towards our environment.....!!!!

It's only trying to survive, like we would be doing ourselves if trapped under something. They should have thought of that before building the retaining wall.
One reason that brings me back to your blog is the little things in life that you bring up to our notice which otherwise would have not paid attention. Nitu, you are a very lovable person and sensitive no doubt. Glad to know you through this medium and am looking forward to know you better.
This is a very nicely written piece. Humans cut down trees but in doing so never give a thought that its also a living thing.
we must be compassionate towards our environment.
typical of us humans isnt it?
we fence in everything, suffocate , kill, maim..and when that doesnt do the trick then we cut it down..:/
if all humans had compassion heaven will be on earth...good point nitu...as ananymous put it; Humans cut down trees but in doing so never give a thought that its also a living thing.
Hi Nitu,
Very nice post with a noble thought. But asking humans to be compassionate, I guess, is asking for too much. Although there are changes happening around us but they are few and far between.
Thanks for bringing it up for notice.
All I understand from the post is that you are a gem of a person to feel for the trees. If a person can feel so much for trees... she surely can rip her heart out for a fellow being.
Hugs from Delhi. :-)
