Chushi......!!!!!!

Now I know this is a vague name to call this ice stick....I actually don't know what its called because we don't have this in our city.I have seen it in movies and in other places and have often wanted to try it. So this time when I had gone down to Gauhati for my class ,during our lunch break , I found this guy outside a mall selling these flavored ice stick. And you bet I went and bought one for myself in spite of a huge opposition from my colleague ,who promptly reminded me of the contaminated water and artificial colors that could be in it.....and much worse things.Told him my resistance is better than his ( which is a fact ) and not to worry. As I watched the Chusi Guy crush the ice and put different flavoring stuffs, deep down I was actually praying that the Ice he has is not from you know where ????? Now why did Anatomy dept cross my mind just now ??? Ugh!!!! don't even want to think of it.....God of Health please look after me I sent a silent prayer while I was dipping this Chusi in my glass and enjoying its techni-colored flavors, much to the disgust of some people. Well if they can't enjoy small blessings , not my problem . lol!!!!

We call it gola in mumbai and chuski too as others have pointed out. While growing up, I used to LOVE having it. On a hot summer day, nothing like a gola :) -- kala khatta, lemon, rose, mango, yumm, yumm, yumm. Now sadly, I have hygiene concerns too, and the same thoughts about the origins of the ice. There is an ad which airs on TV these days showing gola, and my kids are after my life to let them eat. I don't know where to get these in Bangalore. Should we try making them at home? How does one grate the ice?

CHushi/Ice Gola/Barf ka gola... all is same... whatever be the name of this delicious item, the meaning is same... sugary ice on tongue is what it is and what it is required to be humane in this world.
