Umiam Lake......

The Umiam Lake , also known as the Barapani Lake is about 18 kms or so from the main town. It is here the mighty reservoir of the Umiam Hydro electric Project is situated...in other words this is the lake from where electricity is generated for the whole town of Shillong and also the neighbouring states. The road that is seen is the Shillong-Guwahati road ( NH-40) . The lake is surrounded hills where the swaying pines whispers sweet nothings ........and when we have good weather the blue sky reflects its hue on the clear waters that at times one holds his breadth at the spectecular sight.....This picture was taken in the early evening ......so its a bit foggy.

Hi Nitu

Saw your blog after several days. Indeed wonderful. I must say you clearly have a capability to become a professional photographer. Totally contrary to me who cant shoot straight. A photographer has to have two qualities. One he has to be good at his profession and he also has to have a clear heart. Then the photos can spell the magic of the kind your photos do. Another thing, the small sensitivities you capture in your pictures are just wonderful. The articulation of those even more enchanting. Do keep it up.

Regards

Amit
