A Lost Soul.....

This boy walked into the department with much pain.....he had a toothache. He was examined and necessary medicines given with a date to come back for a follow up.....but I, who was working in the next chair noticed that he was not getting up......it struck me kind of funny because lets be frank, dental clinics or the dental chairs are not really favorite haunts for most of us. Something was seriously a problem here......I walked up to the chair and I was shocked by the sight of this young boy. His toothache was the last thing I was thinking of......He had the most depressing set of eyes....and a face that looked ten years ahead of his actual age........a pair of lips that I think never smiled for years......It was a sight so pathetic. I spoke to him for a few minutes and in those few minutes , I realised this young fellow had given up on life....he had lost the will to live....my heart broke seeing him in his state of affairs......what brought him to this condition....He was at an age where most of us would want to live life to its fullest......why was he so suicidal.......talking of death constantly. What could be done for this lost soul??? My colleague and I realised that we were not the right people to council him....he needed professional help.So the least we could do was put him in the right hands and pray that he gets help and recovers soon. Needless to say.......what effect it had on me for the rest of the day !!!!!

That is so sad. I hope someone was able to help him. No one knows what he's gone through until he talks to someone and tells them. You did right by finding help for him. Bless his soul. Let's hope he isn't lost.

I am so pleased to find your blog from Lin. What a truly compassionate person you are to have tried to help out this poor soul. I could weep over the story. The photo is so very emotional for me. And it happens so very often and yes, we all must look into another's eyes...

Your post will linger with me for some time, I'm sure. Myhusband and I have been foster parents and know how our hearts have been torn by the children who have been brought to us, mere shadows... many of them who seemed as if their entire futures would be no more than a repetition of the sorrow and rejection they had experienced. All hope for better days had been ripped from them somewhere along the paths they had walked. The slumped shoulders in your photo gripped at my soul. I thank you for taking the time to notice this young man. To truly SEE him and give him some warmth.
