Nongkrem Dance........!!!!!!

With the start of Autumn and the month of November, Shillong sees a series of activities.....and one of them is the Nongkrem Dance.It is one of the most important festival of Meghalaya, held in Smit, which is about 15 km away from the main city. Usually young men and unmarried woman , all dressed up in their traditional outfits adorned with the finest gold and silver ornaments, come and dance to the beats of drums and flutes. Prayers and sacrifices are offered to the Almighty for a good harvest, peace and prosperity of the people.
